XVWeb Update Release: Thursday 23 July 2020

This release has a couple of new features, some performance improvements, and a few bug fixes.

Important Notes for the Upcoming Year

XVWeb will no longer support IE11 by the end of 2020.

• Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome are recommended instead.

Advanced Edit is going away at the end of October 2020.

• We have included some new tools to replace the functionality in the omnibus Advanced Edit

New Features

Exports

• Downloading Image Count The number of images being downloaded should now be shown in the Export > Download menu panel. This tool only exports the placement of tiles; images and graphics are not saved to the file and must be added manually. (#1440)

UI/UX

• Study Groups Series in the preview bar should now show a bracket indicating which items are grouped in the same Study. (#1432)
• Browser Autocomplete Added support for modern browsers to better handle autocomplete fields, where applicable. For more details, see https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Attributes/autocomplete (#1464)

Layouts

• A user with Edit privileges should be able to use the Place in Layout tool. (#1445)
• A user with Admin privileges should be able to export and import layout setup files. The layout settings file can be exported from the Layout Editor page. The files can be imported in the edit layout side panel. Note: Custom graphics are not included in these layout files. The graphics must be uploaded separately in the Layout Editor. Also, these setup files are specific to XVWeb; they are not intended to be used with other DICOM viewers. These setup files do not contain XVCapture progression information either. (#1430)

Settings Fixes

• FIXED an issue where site settings sometimes would not save the latest changes to site options. (#1465)

Move To… Fixes

• FIXED an issue preventing users with Edit privileges from moving PDF/DOC instances. (#1463)

Measurement Fixes

• FIXED an issue where the measurement input box wouldn’t cooperate with the digit 0. (#1441)

Print Fixes

• FIXED an issue where trying to print mixed modality layouts would fail to open the print page. (#1403)

Enhancement Fixes

• FIXED an issue where the Spot Enhancement would stop working while adjusting the strength modifiers. (#1425)

  • The Size range is 0 to 1 with 0.02 intervals and defaults to 0.16
  • The Strength range is 0 to 0.5 with 0.01 intervals and defaults to 0.08

UI/UX Fixes

• FIXED a user interface issue where some menu panels would stay visible after automatic log out. (#1476)
• FIXED a user interface issue that prevented displaying tooltips for many of the XVWeb buttons. (#1444)
• FIXED a user interface issue where the Enhancements flyout would persist after leaving the View page. (#1417)

Export Fixes

• FIXED an issue in Export > Download that sometimes would fail to submit the download form when pressing [Enter] after typing a password. (#1433)
• FIXED an issue in Export > Mail that sometimes would fail to submit the email form when pressing [Enter] after typing a password. (#1438)

Known Issues

Known Enhancement and Effects Issues

• When adding the SHARPEN effect the radius and amount appear to default to 0. If these numbers are not actually touched and changed, the effect will create a broken image when applied. Adjust the numbers and save to avoid this issue.

• When adding the GAMMA_CORRECTION effect the gamma amount appears to default to 0. If this number is not actually touched and changed, the effect will create a broken image when the enhancement is applied. Adjust this number and save to avoid this issue.

Known Layout Issues

• Text tiles added to layouts appear in the viewer but don’t always print

Known Internet Explorer 11 Issues

• Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) End of Support from Apteryx in 2020
  We are finding IE11 to be a big liability for continued support. Microsoft has released new and robust versions of Edge, a browser build like Chrome, that can handle XVWeb very well. Edge works on Windows 7, 8, and 10. We constantly test against Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, but we only check that very basic features (such as searching, displaying 2D images, and exporting) work in IE11. We strongly recommend all customers to stop using IE11 for XVWeb, and move to a modern, supported browser.
